Job Description
Marketing and Communications Manager shaping Bluesky's social media narrative through content, campaigns, and media relations. Building creator networks and leading communications for a decentralized social platform.
Responsibilities:
- Own Bluesky's story across press, its own channels, and the broader internet
- Create posts, video, threads, and explainers, and collaborate with creators
- Source and manage speaking opportunities for leaders, including conferences, podcasts, and panels
- Proactively pitch stories and co-create ideas with journalists and creators
- Build and maintain networks of reporters, creators, and community voices
- Plan and run launches and campaigns for new features and network moments
- Shape and maintain the Bluesky brand and voice
- Monitor the network and internet for developments and turn them into stories and moments
- Lead communications through crises and build systems to mitigate issues
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and community teams
- Manage freelancers, creators, agencies, and other outside partners
Requirements:
- 10+ years in communications, marketing, content, or media, ideally in tech or social
- Portfolio of work made or led, including content, stories, or campaigns
- Established relationships with journalists and creators
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with adaptability across platforms, audiences, and moments
- Fluency in internet culture
- Experience in fast, scrappy environments where you shipped quickly and iterated
- Steadiness under pressure and experience navigating at least one crisis
- Familiarity with Bluesky, AT Protocol, or the decentralized social landscape is a plus
- Experience working with or writing for developers is a plus
- Experience leading consumer-facing communications teams and familiarity with crisis communications is a plus
