Job Description

Multi-line Claims Specialist executing compliant claims handling and service delivery in Canada. Engaging with team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and efficiency in claims resolution and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and/or coordinate the investigation, documentation, analysis and resolution of multi-line P&C field and desk adjusted claims.
  • Handle claims in a quality manner delivering on standards of accuracy, efficiency, customer service and regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively manage claim progressions and ensure impactful communications on claim status with members, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Operate within assigned authority for coverage determinations, claim resolutions, reserving & issuing payments for loss & loss adjustment expenses.
  • Minimize avoidable adverse financial development by ensuring initial loss and expense reserves are timely established, reviewed regularly and updated when necessary.
  • Appropriately manage vendor partner activities, including but not limited to acting as a Claims Examiner on files with an independent adjuster involved.
  • Identify and pursue subrogation recovery opportunities.
  • Represent the company in interactions with members and brokers, as well as internal stakeholders in underwriting, product management and finance.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and Risk Management peers on new risks.
  • Other relevant responsibilities and tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of prior P&C claims experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • CIP, FCIP or CRM designation is preferred.
  • Experience in the high-net-worth industry is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and industry-specific technology (e.g. Xactimate, Guidewire, etc.).
  • Strong relationship management and customer services skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory to members’ homes is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, analytical and solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity, exhibit team spirit and enthusiasm, and establish trust and credibility.
  • Agile learner who can quickly absorb information and apply it to current business situations.
