Job Description
Sourcing Manager overseeing strategic procurement for new product development at Convatec. Driving procurement excellence in medical solutions for chronic conditions.
Responsibilities:
- You will develop fully integrated and customer/business-aligned sourcing strategies/plans for assigned new product development projects.
- You will engage and manage critical relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that the sourcing strategies are highly aligned to current and future business needs and that the supply base can support the requirement NPD project requirements and the market launch timeline.
- You will be responsible for the implementation of the sourcing strategy to ensure that procurement activities deliver the expected value to the business in terms of cost, quality, service, resilience, and time to market.
- You will be accountable for delivering the supply agreements for the supply of materials/products and/or services that support the sourcing strategies.
- You will be accountable for the Source to Contract (S2C) process, including identification of opportunities, scouting of suppliers (RFIs, RFQs), sourcing strategy, evaluation, recommendation, and award.
- You will be accountable through Supplier Relationship Management for ensuring that the supplier base is continually assessed and developed to meet changing business/customer demands; this will include identifying and driving continuous improvement/innovation initiatives that will generate value through increased supplier performance and/or capabilities.
- You will be accountable for delivering a resilience assessment on the assigned finished goods/raw materials assigned and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies to protect the NPD project time to market and the long-term viability of manufacturing post launch.
- In the role, you will create a network of key customers and executive sponsors across advanced operations, project management, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, R&D, Technology & Innovation, engineering, sales, marketing, and finance.
- The role may be responsible for one or more Strategic Buyers.
Requirements:
- 5 years + working within a Strategic Procurement environment preferably in a similar regulated industry (Medical Devices, Pharma, Healthcare, Automotive, Aerospace), prior experience working with R&D teams in New Product Development projects.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Strategic Procurement concepts in complex projects in manufacturing and/or R&D environment.
- Demonstrated ability to define a procurement/sourcing and resilience strategy, translate it into actionable plans and manage the execution of these plans.
- Experience working with e-procurement tools to find, evaluate & select the best vendors to support NPD project requirements.
- An autonomous, self-starter with a good understanding of how to map out and build a relevant stakeholder network across multiple functions.
- Excellent inter-personal & communication skills with ability to communicate through a variety of formats to an audience of internal stakeholders of differing seniority and with external partners.
- Results and solution oriented with an entrepreneurial spirit and with a focus on meeting required targets and deadlines.
- Possess significant ability for analytical problem-solving and analysis/interpretation of complex problems, incorporating data gathered from a variety of sources/software tools.
- Good understanding of financial principles, open book costing/should cost modelling, resource planning and allocation, to support execution of a procurement strategy.
- Experience of negotiating with suppliers on all commercial and contractual matters and applying judgement as to what constitutes an acceptable level of contractual risk and supply resilience.
- Able to promote and foster new ideas and strategies among internal and external stakeholders, challenging the status quo with sustainable solution(s).
- Able to influence and negotiate with key internal stakeholders and professionally challenge requirements to secure best value for the business.
- Able to work with a range of technically and culturally diverse people in a complex matrix environment, influencing them to achieve goals in a timely manner and to help drive business results.
- Need to demonstrate and apply analytical as well as strategic thinking skills, support teamwork, display exceptional judgment, collaboration, and decision-making.
- Able to demonstrate the values and behaviours required to be successful in the role and support the Convatec ‘Forever Caring’ Promise.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field.
- CIPS to level 6 or equivalent.
