Job Description

Payroll Officer processing Australian payroll, superannuation, and PAYG using Xero Payroll. Remote Philippines-based role working Australian hours and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payroll accurately and on time using Xero Payroll.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new starters, terminations, pay changes, allowances, deductions, and leave.
  • Manage employee timesheets, overtime, allowances, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Ensure payroll calculations comply with relevant Australian employment legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and company policies.
  • Process and reconcile employee superannuation contributions.
  • Manage PAYG withholding and other payroll-related reporting requirements.
  • Complete payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies or variances.
  • Prepare and process payroll payments and ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in Xero.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, audits, reconciliations, and end-of-financial-year activities.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance regarding employee changes and payroll matters.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Stay up to date with changes to Australian payroll legislation and requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Administrator, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience processing Australian payroll.
  • Hands-on experience with Xero Payroll is required.
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of PAYG, superannuation, leave entitlements, and payroll compliance.
  • Experience working with Australian Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
