Job Description
Pipeline Clinical Science Manager advancing AbbVie’s immunology medicines through clinical research. Supporting investigators, clinical trials, scientific exchange, and pipeline strategy in South Korea.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie at investigational sites and key scientific centers
- Facilitate clinical research and interventional phase 1–3 trials involving AbbVie drugs
- Support requests for medical and scientific information on relevant products and therapeutic areas
- Partner with Site Management & Monitoring staff on site feasibility assessment, site engagement, training, recruitment issues, and site queries
- Provide scientific and technical leadership in relationships with investigators
- Consult physicians, pharmacists, and other medical professionals regarding appropriate patient referral to clinical trial sites and clinical practice topics
- Serve as point of contact for external thought leaders regarding Sponsor-Initiated Study ideas and support requests
- Deliver credible scientific presentations on immunology and AbbVie’s pipeline
- Participate in identifying qualified external experts for research collaborations, advisory boards, congresses, and symposia
- Identify R&D collaboration opportunities with institutions and thought leaders and liaise with Search & Evaluation, Discovery, and Clinical Development teams
- Facilitate medical and scientific field intelligence and communicate relevant insights internally
- Attend relevant internal and external scientific meetings and conferences
- Assist physicians with named-patient or compassionate-use access requests when requested and legally permitted
- Provide early-touchpoint insights on clinical practice, identify tier 1 external experts, and inform future clinical development programs where applicable
- Develop long-term medical strategy and plans from clinical trials through health-authority approval and access
- Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, codes, policies, and best practices
- Provide scientific and technical input to local study teams, early brand teams, and external investigators under appropriate medical governance
- Work with Medical Information teams on unsolicited off-label information requests
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with investigators and thought leaders to facilitate AbbVie research and pipeline success
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, PharmD, MD, etc.) in a relevant scientific and biologic discipline is strongly preferred; candidates with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience will be considered
- At least 8+ years of professional experience in medical affairs or a similar field-based R&D role involving clinical trials and clinical development
- Strong understanding of the immunology clinical research landscape and implementation and conduct of clinical trials
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, study investigators, and site staff
- Solid knowledge and problem-solving skills to advance the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company
- Excellent initiative and judgment and ability to represent AbbVie positively and compliantly
- Expertise in scientific methods applied to clinical research and applicable legislative/regulatory controls
- Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills
- Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and healthcare decision makers
- Good understanding of written and oral English is desirable
