Job Description

Profee audit specialist performing medical-record coding audits for Datavant, a healthcare data collaboration platform. Ensuring accurate, compliant coding and educating coders.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform Professional Fee coding audits of medical records and abstracts
  • Use ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and appropriate coding references for accurate coding assignment
  • Provide concise rationale for identified changes, including specific references and documentation locations
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes
  • Organize and prioritize multiple cases concurrently to ensure workflow and case resolution
  • Provide coder education through the auditing process
  • Address consulting and educational needs related to coding quality, compliance assessments, external payer reviews, coding education, interim coding management, and coding workflow operations reviews
  • Identify and present solutions for customer issues
  • Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics
  • Make complex work-function and decision-making judgments

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Professional Fee coding and/or auditing
  • CPC required
  • CPMA preferred
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate
  • Experience with Epic, Cerner, and other prevalent EMRs
  • Experience with multi-specialties preferred
  • Availability within normal business hours preferred
  • Customer-service focus and professionalism
  • Flexibility, dependability, desire to learn, and commitment to excellence and the profession
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills
