Job Description
Quantitative analyst advancing Child Trends’ early childhood research and policy evaluation. Managing statistical analyses, data systems, reports, and stakeholder findings.
Responsibilities:
- Work on multiple research and evaluation projects simultaneously as a quantitative task leader or analyst
- Contribute independently and collaboratively to reports, briefs, and memos
- Manage quantitative analysis plans from data cleaning through final results, including timeline, scope of work, and budget
- Contribute to quantitative data collection protocols and support data collection efforts
- Develop analytical plans and data management documentation with colleagues
- Analyze quantitative data using basic and sophisticated statistical methods
- Conduct research with an equity lens
- Continue learning and growth toward becoming a more equitable employee and researcher
- Assist with proposal development
- Present findings to clients and stakeholders in public forums
- Train and supervise research assistants and support staff
- Contribute to communications and dissemination efforts
- Work with federal government, state agencies, communities, and foundations on early childhood research, evaluation, technical assistance, and policy projects
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in research methods, statistics, applied statistics, applied mathematics, biostatistics, applied economics, data science, quantitative sociology or psychology, public health, mathematics, psychology, education, public policy, or a related field plus 2–3 years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree plus 3–5 years of relevant quantitative experience
- Experience with inferential statistical techniques and research methods, including data cleaning, missing data management, categorical and continuous data analysis, and quasi-experimental designs
- Experience managing, cleaning, and analyzing secondary and/or administrative data
- Proficiency with Stata or R
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with data visualization
- Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate complex information to general or policy audiences
- Excellent task management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to provide and take direction
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the US
- Resume/CV, cover letter, work sample showcasing quantitative skills, and three professional references required
- Desired but not required: experience with data collection and management; methodological designs; causal analyses, structural equation modeling, multi-level modeling, policy evaluation methods; Python and/or SQL; Git and GitHub; client work
