Job Description
Sales Engineer designing colocation and data center infrastructure for hyperscale, neoscaler, and AI/HPC tenants at WWMC. Leading presales feasibility, proposals, technical diligence, and delivery handoffs across multi-megawatt deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead during tenant engagements and sales pursuits
- Translate tenant business objectives into technical infrastructure solutions
- Lead technical discussions with tenant representatives, SMEs, engineers, and executives
- Gather current-state and future-state infrastructure requirements, including growth projections, rack densities, and expansion locations
- Identify requirements outside WWMC standards early in the sales cycle
- Assist with standard and customized data center solution design across space, power, cooling, connectivity, security, and BMS/EPMS disciplines
- Develop technical proposal narratives and support pricing and commercial proposals
- Own technical responses for RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, due diligence questionnaires, compliance matrices, and security, sustainability, and AI infrastructure assessments
- Coordinate technical responses across Engineering, Operations, Construction, Product, and Legal
- Validate technical feasibility before tenant commitments are made
- Project manage tenant qualification documents, performance requirements exhibits, capability matrices, and technical due diligence checklists
- Evaluate inventory, campus expansion plans, power availability, cooling capacity, phased growth, and reservation planning
- Develop solution pricing assumptions and validate technical costs
- Support contract and lease negotiations and review tenant redlines affecting technical commitments
- Support large-scale hyperscale, neoscaler, AI/HPC, GPU, high-density compute, and multi-region deployments
- Support post-contract technical kickoffs, phase turnovers, design validation, onboarding, deployment planning, change management, issue resolution, and expansion planning
- Monitor competitor offerings and emerging technologies and provide product and go-to-market feedback
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience in data center design, construction, or operations
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in data center design, construction, commissioning, or operations, presales engineering, or a comparable technical tenant-facing role
- Prior experience working for a data center builder, developer, or colocation provider directly supporting hyperscale, neoscaler, or AI tenants
- Experience supporting hyperscale, neoscaler, and AI or HPC tenant deployments and current-generation GPU platforms
- Working knowledge of UPS, switchgear, generators, ATS, STS systems, and PDUs
- Working knowledge of CRAH, CRAC, fan walls, chillers, cooling towers, chilled-water loops, CDUs, and D2C liquid cooling
- Ability to read and mark up electrical and mechanical single-line drawings and floor plans
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort presenting to tenant executives, architects, and technical stakeholders
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- PE license preferred
- Data center industry certification preferred, such as CDCP, CDCS, CDCDP, or ATD
- Direct-to-chip liquid cooling experience preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and FedRAMP preferred
- Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier Standards, ANSI/TIA 942, BICSI, ASHRAE, and NFPA preferred
