Job Description

Senior Accounting & Finance Manager building Maven AGI’s finance function for conversational AI agents. Owning close, revenue recognition, controls, audit readiness, and strategic finance initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and improve core accounting processes across AP, AR, payroll, collections, reconciliations, and the general ledger
  • Own the monthly close process end-to-end, partnering with the outsourced bookkeeping team to deliver timely and accurate financial statements
  • Manage revenue recognition, including ASC 606, contract review, deferred revenue, performance obligation analysis, and allocation for SaaS contracts
  • Oversee Accounts Payable through Ramp, including vendor management, approvals, expense reporting, and spend controls
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and collections to support healthy and predictable cash inflows
  • Coordinate payroll and benefits with the People team and PEO, including reviewing sales commission calculations before payroll runs
  • Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and close processes
  • Build audit-ready documentation and workpapers to prepare Maven for its first financial statement audit
  • Manage SaaS sales tax and nexus compliance with third-party partners and tools as Maven expands into new states and countries
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate finance workflows, and help evaluate and implement systems as Maven scales beyond its current stack
  • Partner with the VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, SaaS metrics, investor and board reporting, and other strategic finance initiatives
  • Help build the playbook for a scalable finance organization, with the opportunity to help hire and mentor future team members

Requirements:

  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience with strong hands-on accounting fundamentals
  • Experience owning or playing a significant role in the monthly close and producing accurate, reliable financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting processes, including reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll, and internal controls
  • Experience in public accounting; Big Four audit experience is strongly preferred
  • Startup or high-growth technology company experience is preferred
  • Strong public accounting candidates ready to move into a hands-on operating role are encouraged to apply
  • SaaS experience is a plus, particularly exposure to ASC 606, deferred revenue, and SaaS business metrics
  • Comfortable managing outsourced partners and owning outcomes without personally booking every transaction
  • Ability to research technical accounting questions, develop a point of view, and drive issues through resolution
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize and operate pragmatically in a fast-moving startup
  • Comfortable moving between detailed execution and higher-level problem solving
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus
  • Experience implementing or improving finance systems, equity/cap table administration, or FP&A is a plus but not required
