Job Description

Senior Platform Engineer at DraftKings, shaping the future of our engineering platform and driving improvements. Collaborating on development tools, infrastructure reliability, and automation practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve our source control platform (Bitbucket and GitHub), including leading our migration to a modern GitHub-based SCM supporting GitOps workflows.
  • Design, build, and continuously improve deployment pipelines and GitOps tooling using technologies like FluxCD, ArgoCD, and Jenkins.
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes infrastructure across a large-scale, multi-cluster environment, leveraging Helm Charts to streamline deployments.
  • Develop and maintain automation and operational tooling, primarily using Python, to improve system efficiency and reliability.
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code principles to provision and manage cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to plan features, break down complex initiatives, and deliver solutions aligned with business and technical priorities.
  • Review code and provide technical guidance to elevate engineering standards and support team growth.
  • Drive platform reliability, scalability, and developer productivity through thoughtful architecture, tooling, and automation.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering, with hands-on expertise in infrastructure tooling.
  • Strong experience working with Kubernetes and containerization technologies, including managing and scaling production deployments.
  • Proficiency in GitOps practices and tools such as FluxCD or ArgoCD.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using tools like Jenkins and Artifactory.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, with hands-on experience using Terraform.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform, including secrets management solutions like AWS Secrets Manager.
  • Familiarity with source control platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket, along with exposure to observability tools like Datadog; experience with database migration tooling such as Flyway or Grate, or dependency management automation tools like Renovate, is considered an advantage.
