Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building reliable automation and AI-enabled workflows for UpDoc’s clinically validated chronic-disease management platform. Improving compliance, developer productivity, and internal operations.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and own high-leverage automation projects end-to-end
- Find friction across engineering, operations, and compliance and replace it with reliable software
- Automate regulatory and compliance workflows, including compliant software releases, evidence collection, traceability, documentation, approvals, and recurring compliance work
- Improve engineering productivity and developer experience through CI, release tooling, debugging tools, internal developer tools, and repetitive-work automation
- Build AI-enabled internal workflows for conversation annotation, data labeling, evaluation, structured extraction, review, triage, and agentic processes
- Combine LLMs with deterministic software, validation, monitoring, and human review where appropriate
- Integrate internal and external systems
- Build reliable, maintainable production software with testing, observability, auditability, and failure handling
- Improve solutions based on usage
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Ideally experience in backend, platform, developer productivity, internal tools, or other generalist engineering roles
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals
- Strong Python skills
- Experience building backend services, APIs, databases, and reliable production systems
- Ability to independently turn ambiguous operational or engineering problems into shipped technical solutions
- Strong judgment around system design, testing, reliability, and maintainability
- Track record of moving quickly and taking end-to-end ownership
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams
- Experience building production AI- or LLM-enabled automation, including structured outputs, tool use, evaluation, monitoring, and safeguards is highly desired
- Experience building developer productivity, CI/CD, release engineering, or internal tooling is highly desired
- Experience with regulatory, compliance, quality, security, or other auditable workflows is highly desired
- Experience building internal systems at an early-stage or rapidly scaling company is highly desired
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
