Job Description
Senior backend engineer building LLM-powered automation infrastructure for Coinbase’s customer support and compliance operations. Delivering secure Python and Golang systems that improve resolution speed, cost, and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver agentic AI systems for customer support and compliance automation
- Build scalable, secure backend infrastructure in Python and Golang for AI workloads
- Develop model integration pipelines, guardrails, grounding mechanisms, and measurement frameworks
- Drive end-to-end execution of complex AI initiatives while balancing latency, accuracy, cost, and reliability
- Partner with Customer Experience, Compliance, and product engineering teams to identify automation opportunities
- Translate operational pain points into AI-powered solutions
- Lead code reviews and mentor engineers on AI system design patterns
- Contribute to on-call rotations and incident response
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with expertise designing, building, and maintaining production services using microservices architecture
- Hands-on experience building LLM-based applications or AI/ML systems in production
- Experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic AI frameworks
- Proficiency in Python and Golang or comparable backend languages
- Experience integrating third-party AI models and APIs into production workflows
- Track record of delivering end-to-end projects with measurable business impact in ambiguous problem spaces
- Experience building data pipelines, integrating with external vendors, or working with large-scale unstructured data sources
- Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight
- Familiarity with GenAI frameworks/tools, Python, GoLang, Docker, Postgres, and MongoDB is a nice-to-have
- Background in AI/LLM infrastructure is a strong plus
