Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building Akamai’s distributed microsegmentation and security solutions. Designing Python-based services and AI-powered capabilities from concept through production.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize large-scale distributed solutions
- Work on new features from idea through production
- Solve complex engineering problems in a highly collaborative environment
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
- Oversee feature development from design to implementation
- Break down large features into incremental deliverables and drive execution and vision
- Develop high-quality code and serve as a role model for other engineers
- Balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring
- Leverage AI and modern engineering practices to accelerate development
Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Extensive backend engineering expertise using Python
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade services in distributed environments
- Experience with Python, Kubernetes, SQL, NoSQL databases, and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to decompose complex tasks into clear, actionable steps
- Technical expertise with a strategic perspective for addressing complex challenges
- Rust application development experience is a valuable addition
