Job Description
Senior Staff Attorney litigating premises actions, motor-vehicle accidents, property damage, and No-Fault claims. Join The Hartford to deliver the best legal strategies and results.
Responsibilities:
- Independently handle lawsuits involving premises actions, motor-vehicle accidents, property damage claims and No-Fault claims
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, reports, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies without supervision
- Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at depositions, trials, judicial and administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions
- Research, draft, file and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients
- Conduct legal research and independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
- Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues
- Provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
- Prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases
- Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of legal litigation experience
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in New York State
- Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts
- Member in good standing of New York State Bar
- Federal admission in S.D.N.Y and E.D.N.Y is a plus
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are essential
- Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software are required.
