Job Description
Senior Systems Engineer responsible for the design and operation of complex IT infrastructure. Working remotely, coordinating with internal and external teams for optimal service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous optimization of complex IT infrastructure components
- Act as a last-level technical expert to ensure stable, secure, and standardized IT services
- Independently manage incidents, problems, and escalations up to last-level support
- Support the consultation, planning, and technical design of IT projects
- Coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables for assignments delegated to external service providers and internal IT specialist teams
- Act as the primary contact for last-level and highly complex technical issues
- Design and implement automation solutions, including scripting where required
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation independently
- Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled work outside standard business hours for maintenance activities or technical changes
- Ensure strict compliance with information security requirements and adhere to ISMS policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of proven, hands-on experience in systems engineering and server-/system administration within complex, enterprise IT environments
- ITILv4 Foundation certification
- Fluent German language skills (at least B2/C1 level) as well as fluent English skills (at least B2/C1 level)
- In-depth knowledge of current market technologies in virtualization (Proxmox) and backup/restore products (Veeam etc.)
- Very high willingness to learn, strong resilience, and flexibility in a dynamic IT environment
- Structured, goal-oriented, and analytical working style with a strong sense of ownership
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities
- Excellent communication skills, a strong team-oriented mindset in an international environment and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
- High level of commitment, reliability, and hands-on mentality.
