Job Description
Senior Principal VDI/Citrix Engineer designing secure Citrix, AVD, and AWS WorkSpaces environments. Supporting GDIT’s technology and mission services for U.S. government, defense, and intelligence customers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, integrate, and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud environments
- Define system architecture for new and existing VDI environments
- Develop enterprise-level and solution-level designs for on-premises and cloud VDI systems
- Deploy and enhance cloud-based VDI solutions across AWS, Azure, and other providers
- Integrate Citrix, AVD, and AWS WorkSpaces with existing infrastructure
- Build and manage gold images, application packaging, and software offerings
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, management tools, and system software
- Administer Windows Server, Linux/Unix, IAM solutions, and large-scale integrations
- Maintain required security posture and apply updates and remediations
- Build, migrate, and test AWS and Azure environments and integrations
- Use CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible for infrastructure as code
- Automate operations and expand cloud hosting capabilities
- Monitor and maintain infrastructure to meet client requirements
- Provide documentation, technical briefings, and support for program status reviews
- Collaborate with remote teams and provide occasional after-hours on-call support
- Coordinate with cloud hosting infrastructure teams
- Deploy large-scale environments via infrastructure as code
- Rapidly prototype to refine system requirements and technical specifications
- Maintain environment configuration according to industry standards and best practices
- Remediate application and package installations
- Develop templates or scripts to automate developer and operations functions
- Identify tools and processes to improve cloud platforms
- Prepare technical documentation and briefing materials for reviews and control gates
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 10+ years of related experience
- Minimum of 4–5 years in VDI engineering or systems engineering
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret
- DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (Security+) certification
- Technical skills in Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and AWS WorkSpaces
- Windows/Linux administration experience
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible
- Identity & Access Management, profile management, and large-scale system integration experience
- US citizenship required
- Citrix certifications, such as CCAV or CCP-V, desired
- Azure Virtual Desktop; ARM/BICEP templates and automation experience desired
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and project lifecycle workflows desired
- Willingness to travel 10–25%
