Responsibilities:

  • Roll out remote build execution and improve remote cache hit rates across CI and developer machines
  • Profile and reduce build and test times in the monorepo while maintaining hermetic and reproducible builds
  • Upgrade and maintain Bazel, rulesets, and external dependencies using Bzlmod
  • Support C++ toolchains and cross-compilation for embedded targets
  • Build dashboards and alerts for build health, flaky tests, and CI performance
  • Own and evolve the Bazel build system for speed, reliability, hermeticity, and usability
  • Design and tune remote caching and remote build execution across local and CI environments
  • Maintain rules, toolchains, and dependency management for C++, Python, and Go
  • Maintain developer workflows for build, lint, code coverage, and testing support
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve the CI system using AWS and Buildkite
  • Develop, deploy, and support automation tools for change submission, integration testing, and dependency management
  • Implement monitoring services and dashboards for build health, cache hit rates, and internal system performance and stability
  • Participate in the team’s support and on-call rotation

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience maintaining Bazel or a comparable build system such as Buck or Pants in a multi-language monorepo
  • Experience writing rules and macros, configuring toolchains, and debugging build and cache correctness
  • Experience with remote caching and remote execution is a significant plus
  • Strong knowledge of build systems and software development tools including Git, linting, GitHub, code review, testing frameworks, and deployment frameworks
  • Working knowledge of C++ build toolchains, including compilers, linkers, sysroots, and cross-compilation
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD best practices and principles
  • Direct experience with Buildkite is a plus
  • Experience developing tools and services in Python or Go
  • Experience with Linux operating systems in development and operational environments
  • Knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms
  • Terraform experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of on-call support processes, incident management, and monitoring tooling
  • Familiarity with front-end web development, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or a modern framework, is a plus

Benefits:

  • Equal employment opportunities and protection from discrimination and harassment
  • Carbon-neutral transit mission with minimal environmental impact (company mission, not an employee benefit)
