Job Description
Software Engineer developing scalable Java microservices for Twilio Flex, Twilio’s customer communications platform. Operating AWS cloud services, improving reliability, and supporting distributed systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver new capabilities in the Twilio Flex platform
- Design, implement, own, and operate microservices end to end in the cloud
- Build and maintain highly scalable distributed systems focused on reliability and performance
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Flex platform services on AWS using microservices architecture
- Own services end to end, respond to incidents, participate in on-call rotation, and drive root-cause analyses
- Write automated unit and integration tests
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling
- Refactor systems and reduce technical debt
- Uphold engineering standards through code reviews and design discussions
- Collaborate with product and engineering peers to influence roadmap priorities and propose architectural solutions
- Document systems and contribute to runbooks, design documents, and operational playbooks
- Help build Flex engineering capacity and a center of excellence for the Flex business unit
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
- 3–5 years of experience developing highly available, secure, native cloud enterprise SaaS applications in Java
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other public cloud infrastructure platforms
- Experience building highly scalable, real-time distributed systems based on microservices architecture
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes container technologies
- Experience with REST API design and implementation
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and caches
- Experience implementing modern automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to translate system designs into software implementations
- Good engineering practices covering development and test techniques, security, and automation
- Expertise in solving complex production issues
- Aptitude to learn and execute quickly in a small team
- Experience with iterative development and deployment, Scrum, and Agile methodologies
- Clear and concise oral and written communication
- Occasional travel may be required
- Role is based in India: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana State, Maharashtra, or New Delhi
