Job Description
Staff Accountant II responsible for financial reporting and compliance within a nonprofit. Collaborating with teams to provide support and analyze financial data for cash management and reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare account reconciliations in multiple currencies, with a focus on cash & treasury management.
- Prepare and enter journal entries.
- Conduct transactional analysis.
- Meet monthly close deadlines to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review appropriate internal controls and monthly financial reporting.
- Assist with review of global bank and petty cash reconciliations.
- Assist with training to finance administrative staff at Study Centers to ensure CIEE policies and best practices are followed.
- Assist with study center compliance reporting.
- Assist with study center cash entries and review for accuracy.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations in multiple currencies.
- Assist with maintaining the organization’s accounting policies, practices, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and enforce compliance with Study Centers.
- Assist with documentation preparation and support for the annual audit.
- Serve as a backup and resource to the accounting team.
- Work closely with the Treasury Manager to provide support as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Equivalent discipline required.
- Strong understanding of accounting practices and GAAP.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and resolve variances.
- ERP financial software experience required, NetSuite experience a plus.
- Strong Excel skills, including VLookups and Pivot Tables.
- Ability to work independently, research, and problem-solve.
- Excellent attention to details and organizational skills.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
