Job Description
Staff IT Engineer leading GitOps, DevOps, and AI-enabled endpoint operations. Securing and scaling device infrastructure for 1Password, a cybersecurity and password-management company.
Responsibilities:
- Own the technical direction of Device Infrastructure Services and the tooling and standards supporting approximately 2,000 compliant, configured, and secure endpoints
- Define and execute the roadmap for transitioning from legacy device management to DevOps and AI-enabled operations
- Drive a DevOps operating model using config-as-code, version control, code review, and CI/CD pipelines instead of manual console changes
- Lead adoption of responsible agentic AI and establish guardrails for autonomous actions and human checkpoints
- Act as the final escalation point for high-severity endpoint incidents
- Diagnose machine-level issues on macOS and Windows hardware
- Partner with IT, Security, and product teams to build custom solutions and deliver initiatives
- Assess and pilot new tooling, including MDM migrations and patch management systems
- Lead build-versus-buy decisions
- Advise product teams on enterprise device deployment considerations
- Lead Customer Zero initiatives by piloting and stress-testing 1Password products against the internal fleet
- Establish a 12-month GitOps transition roadmap
- Build device health metrics and remediation standards
- Develop an AI-assisted operations strategy and automation milestones
- Support major operating-system vendor releases and ensure safe deployment across the organization
- Coach and develop the team
Requirements:
- 7+ years of IT and enterprise endpoint management experience
- 2+ years at a senior or staff individual-contributor level
- Track record of building and managing endpoints with GitOps practices
- Broad knowledge of enterprise endpoint management
- Deep operating-system-level experience
- Practical experience using AI tools for IT operations
- Ability to define and drive technical roadmaps
- Strong scripting and infrastructure-as-code ability using Bash, Python, and Terraform at minimum
- Production-quality automation development and code review experience
- Deep knowledge of endpoint security fundamentals, including encryption, patch/vulnerability management, EDR, least-privilege enforcement, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- Ability to lead through change, collaborate effectively, and mentor engineers
- Must already be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada; no work authorization, relocation assistance, or sponsorship/transferring of a visa provided
