Job Description

Tech Lead/Senior Backend Engineer owning microservice architecture and blockchain integrations. Building stablecoin payment infrastructure for Utorg’s global fintech platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Own backend architecture across two large-scale microservice platforms with 30+ and 25+ services
  • Lead integrations with payment providers, card issuers, blockchain networks, and third-party APIs
  • Take responsibility for integration reliability in production
  • Identify bottlenecks, design caching strategies, optimize database queries, and support growing platform load
  • Make architectural decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and influence engineering standards
  • Contribute to AI-powered operational and development workflows
  • Maintain and extend React-based back-office admin dashboards for approximately 20% of working time
  • Own features end-to-end from planning and architectural design through implementation, testing, monitoring, and improvement
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, Frontend, Mobile, and other cross-functional teams
  • Produce technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and share knowledge
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation of approximately one week per month
  • Independently drive complex integrations and partially offload the Tech Lead
  • Ship initial features within 30 days, independently drive a complex integration or major feature within 60 days, and make architectural decisions within scope by 90 days

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of production backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js as the primary stack
  • 2+ years of production experience with NestJS, including modules, providers, middleware, guards, interceptors, and microservice architecture with custom transports
  • Production blockchain experience with on-chain transactions, multiple networks, and real user funds
  • Understanding of HD wallets (BIP32/BIP39), smart contracts, ABI, ERC-20/SPL tokens, and account-based versus UTXO models
  • Experience with ethers.js, viem, and solana/web3.js
  • Active daily use of AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, or Cursor
  • Experience optimizing business or organizational processes with AI/LLMs
  • Deep PostgreSQL expertise, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, zero-downtime migrations, and database-per-service patterns
  • Hands-on microservices experience with RPC, pub/sub, message brokers, idempotency, eventual consistency, saga/outbox patterns
  • System design experience, including service decomposition, API contracts, data-flow architecture, and capacity planning
  • Complex production integration experience with third-party APIs, payment systems, or similar external services
  • Knowledge of retries, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation
  • Performance engineering experience with profiling, caching, load analysis, and bottleneck identification
  • Strong testing discipline with Jest, integration tests using real databases, and microservice testing
  • Security-conscious development in fintech and crypto environments
  • Technical research skills for evaluating trade-offs, testing hypotheses, and making data-driven architectural decisions
  • English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate level
  • Fluent Russian
  • Nice to have: NATS JetStream, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, pino, Kubernetes, Kustomize/Helm, PCI DSS, GDPR, KYC/AML, payment systems, mentoring, and React basics
