Job Description
Technical Authority and Project Engineering Manager leading enterprise IT modernization across cloud, PLM, MES, and intranet systems. Driving technical solutions, risk management, and cross-functional delivery for BAE Systems’ defense and aerospace operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical authority and systems engineering leadership for complex enterprise systems implementations
- Lead the design, development, testing, verification, and support of systems
- Represent the technical team to project managers, functions, executive leadership, and major suppliers
- Develop and deliver the overall technical solution for products or systems
- Act as decision authority between the Chief Digital Architect and IT technology team
- Identify and communicate technical risks and opportunities
- Serve as Project Engineering Manager accountable for solution design, technical performance, cost, and schedule
- Partner with the Project Manager, Chief Digital Architect team, functional staff, business areas, and suppliers
- Serve as the overall technical point of contact for the project
- Support development of critical skills and resources
- Ensure requirements traceability, robust designs, test plans, and data migration activities
- Facilitate decisions on complex technical and business processes
- Develop and maintain technical performance measures
- Apply processes appropriate to project size and complexity
- Ensure execution of work goals, performance standards, budgets, and staffing plans
- Improve processes and skills supporting programs
- Support cost, schedule, and technical performance throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure IT program proposals are executable and aligned with enterprise business requirements
- Work across organizational boundaries to solve problems and ensure successful delivery
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and minimum 12 years' work experience, including technical leadership experience and capabilities relevant to the business
- Strong systems engineering, cloud, networking, and general IT knowledge
- Ability to form a vision and implement action plans to achieve that vision
- Proven ability to share and transfer technology across organizational boundaries
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence
- Strong leadership, teamwork, facilitation, negotiation, consulting, stakeholder management, and business development skills
- Ability to balance long-term and short-term implications of decisions and organizational goals
- Business acumen and ability to communicate in the language of the business
- Systems thinking and design thinking capabilities
- Cloud (Azure, AWS) certifications preferred
- Agile and/or ITIL certifications preferred
