Job Description
Mid-Level Transmission Line Engineer supporting design and execution of overhead transmission line projects. Reporting to the Transmission Engineering Manager and collaborating across disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design of overhead transmission lines, including: Structure spotting and profile development, Plan & profile drawings, Conductor and hardware selection
- Execute and review line design using industry-standard tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER)
- Perform basic to intermediate calculations for: Sag-tension analysis, Clearance compliance (NESC, GO 95, utility standards)
- Coordinate with structural engineers on pole/tower loading and design inputs
- Support routing studies, constructability reviews, and cost estimates
- Prepare engineering packages, drawings, and material lists
- Interface with clients, survey teams, environmental teams, and other stakeholders
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
- 3–7 years of experience in transmission line design
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD required; experience with PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER preferred
- Working knowledge of NESC and applicable utility standards
- Strong understanding of overhead line design principles and practices
- EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress
