Job Description

Mid-Level Transmission Line Engineer supporting design and execution of overhead transmission line projects. Reporting to the Transmission Engineering Manager and collaborating across disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed design of overhead transmission lines, including: Structure spotting and profile development, Plan & profile drawings, Conductor and hardware selection
  • Execute and review line design using industry-standard tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER)
  • Perform basic to intermediate calculations for: Sag-tension analysis, Clearance compliance (NESC, GO 95, utility standards)
  • Coordinate with structural engineers on pole/tower loading and design inputs
  • Support routing studies, constructability reviews, and cost estimates
  • Prepare engineering packages, drawings, and material lists
  • Interface with clients, survey teams, environmental teams, and other stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3–7 years of experience in transmission line design
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD required; experience with PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER preferred
  • Working knowledge of NESC and applicable utility standards
  • Strong understanding of overhead line design principles and practices
  • EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress
