Job Description

Underwriting Analyst modeling and reviewing multifamily real estate loans for JLL, a global commercial real estate and investment management company. Supporting agency underwriting, inspections, due diligence, closing, and borrower relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and apply Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily financing programs and underwriting responsibilities
  • Perform complex financial modeling of multifamily transactions using operating statements, rent rolls, pro-forma NOI, market data, and comparable data
  • Review third-party reports including appraisals, physical condition assessments, architectural/cost, market, environmental, and zoning reports
  • Access, assimilate, and interpret internal and external database information relevant to loan underwriting
  • Review leases, loan document schedules, and other real estate documents for transaction risks
  • Complete sections of the underwriting model and author sections of the underwriter narrative
  • Review borrower documentation for completeness and accuracy and report concerns to the underwriting team
  • Conduct and lead multifamily asset and submarket inspections, meeting with borrower representatives and management
  • Assist with guide compliance, underwriting and closing timelines, and outstanding due diligence
  • Coordinate with underwriters, vendors, closing teams, originators, borrowers, and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac personnel
  • Analyze borrower ownership structures for compliance with underwriting guidelines
  • Communicate loan status updates and participate in internal and external deal team calls
  • Review and stay current on agency guidelines and perform other duties assigned by management
  • Build client relationships and support customer satisfaction and retention

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related field such as Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or Business
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology
  • Ability to work independently, unsupervised, and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to interface with clients, including top-level executives
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work under demanding deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to audit own work
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate analytical and market data effectively
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to physically inspect residences, common areas, and comparable properties, including extended standing/walking and climbing stairs
  • Real estate background, such as internships or real estate clubs, preferred
  • Familiarity with Fannie Mae DUS and Freddie Mac multifamily loan processes preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
