Job Description

UX Research Intern at BetterHelp assisting in hands-on research processes for mental health accessibility. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to contribute to product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute research studies with guidance from your manager (e.g., usability testing, surveys, interviews).
  • Support usability testing by helping plan sessions, moderate or observe studies, and synthesize findings.
  • Translate research findings into clear, concise insights and recommendations that inform product and design decisions.
  • Develop research artifacts such as user journeys, personas, or summaries to support product strategy.
  • Contribute to maintaining and organizing our research repository to ensure insights are accessible and reusable.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to frame research questions and ensure research drives impact.
  • Present findings in written and verbal formats tailored to different audiences.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing, recently completed, or returning to the workforce with training or experience in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, Human Factors, Data Analytics, or a related field. We welcome candidates transitioning careers or re-entering the workforce who can demonstrate relevant research skills and applied project experience.
  • Understanding of common research methods (e.g., usability testing, surveys, interviews) and when to apply them.
  • Experience with basic statistical analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with designers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists.
  • Curiosity about user behavior and motivation, especially in emotionally sensitive contexts.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with interest in maintaining research documentation and repositories.
  • One or more portfolio or academic projects demonstrating your research process, insights, and impact.
