Job Description
Virtual Platform Engineer operating enterprise VMware virtualization, networking, and storage platforms. Supporting hybrid cloud and cloud-native workloads for technology consulting company Bright Vision Technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization platforms
- Manage software-defined networking and software-defined storage platforms
- Operate platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments
- Work with vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu
- Automate platform operations and manage capacity
- Operate VMware platforms at enterprise scale
- Support modern cloud-native workloads
- Troubleshoot issues across compute, network, and storage layers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience required
- Five or more years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience
- Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi
- Hands-on experience with vSAN and storage policy management
- Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V networking
- Strong PowerCLI scripting skills and experience with automation tooling
- Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery patterns and SRM
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, and storage layers
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VCAP credentials preferred
- Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, or GCVE preferred
- Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) preferred
- Experience with Aria Operations / vRealize Operations preferred
- Exposure to migration programs out of VMware to alternative virtualization platforms preferred
