Job Description
VP Controller leading accounting, controls, and financial reporting for Runpod’s AI developer cloud. Building a scalable, audit-ready function for high-growth infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Runpod’s accounting organization, setting strategy, structure, and priorities as the company scales
- Build, hire, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and deliver accurate US GAAP financial statements
- Serve as the authority on revenue recognition and technical accounting
- Set and maintain accounting policies
- Own the external audit relationship and lead increasingly rigorous audits
- Design and own an internal control environment with a path to SOX readiness
- Present financial results and accounting matters to the CFO, executive team, board, and investors
- Partner with Finance, Legal, People, Revenue, and other teams on contracts, deal structures, equity, and accounting-impacting decisions
- Set the accounting systems roadmap and drive automation and AI across workflows
- Oversee tax, compliance, and equity accounting, and manage outside accounting and tax advisors
- Lead accounting work for financings and strategic transactions, including diligence and complex accounting events
- Report to the CFO
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years leading accounting teams
- CPA license
- Experience building and scaling an accounting function at a high-growth technology, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or similarly fast-moving company
- Deep expertise in US GAAP, technical accounting, and financial reporting
- Experience designing and owning internal controls, including SOX or SOX-readiness work
- Experience leading external audits as the primary owner of the auditor relationship
- Comfort presenting to executives, boards, and investors
- Strong judgment and a builder mindset
- Successful completion of a background check
- Eligible to work in the United States; Runpod is unable to sponsor employment visas
- Preferred: Experience with SaaS and/or usage-based revenue recognition, including ASC 606
- Preferred: Experience leading accounting through a major financing, a first Big 4 audit, or IPO readiness
- Preferred: Experience using automation and AI to transform accounting workflows
- Preferred: Public accounting experience
