Job Description

Assistant Controller leading multi-entity accounting and reporting for COOL’s AI-powered advertising platform. Strengthening controls, automation, forecasting, and scalable finance systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations and support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Oversee accounting across multiple legal entities, business units, and currencies
  • Manage multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting, including transaction remeasurement, balance sheet translation, intercompany activity, and related foreign exchange gains and losses
  • Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other close activities
  • Oversee revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other core accounting functions
  • Support accounting treatment and documentation for new, unusual, or complex business transactions
  • Maintain and improve the chart of accounts, accounting policies, close procedures, and financial reporting processes
  • Support annual audit and tax activities and work with external auditors, tax professionals, and other advisors
  • Help maintain and strengthen the internal control environment
  • Ensure accurate, consistent, documented, and timely financial reporting
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to accounting and finance team members
  • Establish ownership, accountability, and performance expectations
  • Review team members' work while working directly in the details when necessary
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Support FP&A analyses, budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, revenue and margin analysis, and operating expense management
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor key financial and operating metrics
  • Translate financial results into insights for senior leadership
  • Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and communicate findings to the CFO
  • Support scenario modeling and strategic and operational business analyses
  • Continuously improve financial processes, systems, automation, and reporting
  • Support finance infrastructure for increasing transaction volume, geographic expansion, new products, and organizational growth
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve data quality, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency
  • Evaluate AI-enabled tools and automation for finance and accounting
  • Participate in or lead ERP implementation, optimization, integration, and enhancement projects
  • Partner with internal teams and external providers on financial system architecture, data flows, and integrations
  • Improve availability, consistency, and reliability of financial and operational data
  • Help establish scalable financial policies and procedures
  • Report to the CFO

Requirements:

  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including meaningful experience in a senior accounting, accounting manager, or Assistant Controller-level role
  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting
  • Experience working in a startup, high-growth, or similarly fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience leading, developing, and managing accounting or finance team members
  • Experience managing or playing a significant leadership role in the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and accounting policies
  • Ability to support and contribute to FP&A, financial metrics, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Strong Excel, financial systems, and data-analysis capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop practical solutions, and drive projects through completion
  • A hands-on mindset and willingness to work directly in the details when necessary
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, FX remeasurement and translation, and international operations
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated technical accounting capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold accounting team members accountable
  • Ability to understand variance analysis, margins, forecasts, KPIs, and underlying business drivers
  • Strong ERP capabilities and willingness to use automation, integrations, data tools, and AI to improve Finance
  • Must be able to work primarily between the hours of 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM ET
  • Must have a player/coach mentality, willing to both execute and lead
