Job Description
Assistant Director of Development supporting fundraising priorities within the Gift Planning team at Cleveland Clinic. Managing major gift prospects and collaborating across teams to secure philanthropic contributions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing a large portfolio of open estates with charitable bequests currently in process;
- assist with implementing life income gifts, primarily charitable gift annuities;
- collaborate with internal stakeholders and external professional advisors to smoothly and successfully execute planned gifts.
- Efficiently manage core components of Cleveland Clinic’s gift planning program while developing the skillset to become a more seasoned and proficient Gift Planning Officer capable of consulting on high-impact major gift opportunities.
- Identify individual major gift prospects and secures visits through cold calls and other appropriate contact.
- Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for each prospective client.
- Establish a program of personal visits with past, current, and prospective donors.
- Strategically move major gift prospects through the development cycle from qualification to cultivation to solicitation to closing to stewardship.
- Meet monthly and yearly metrics with respect to prospect and donor visits, solicitations, and dollars raised.
- Coordinate donor interests with the priorities of the organization and develop funding proposals to match interests with needs.
- Coordinate stewardship reports to communicate with donors concerning the use of their gifts.
- Assist in department projects, events and programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and three years fundraising or face-to-face solicitation experience with major gifts experience preferred.
- OR Advanced degree and or two years of experience in Sales, Project Management, Donor Relations, Marketing or a related field
- Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with corporate executives, donors and staff physicians.
- Working knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies
- Experience fundraising or face-to-face solicitation experience with major gifts
- A law degree, paralegal, or legal background
- Experience working with contracts and documentation drafting responsibilities for estate and trust administration
- Willingness to conduct in-person and virtual donor meetings in Northeast Ohio, Florida and Nationally per assigned region.
