Job Description
Commercial attorney negotiating contracts for BusPatrol’s AI-powered school bus safety platform. Supporting public-sector procurement, contract administration, and operational legal needs across the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with school districts, municipalities, counties, vendors, consultants, technology providers, and other commercial partners
- Support day-to-day commercial contracting, including contract markups, negotiations, amendments, renewals, and internal legal requests
- Assist with public-sector contracting, procurement-related agreements, RFP responses, and governmental contracting compliance
- Partner with sales, operations, finance, procurement, and customer success on contract execution and legal operations
- Identify legal and commercial risks and escalate higher-risk or non-standard issues
- Interpret and negotiate indemnification, limitation of liability, insurance, confidentiality, and performance provisions
- Support contract administration and tracking, including renewal deadlines, contractual obligations, and compliance matters
- Use legal templates, playbooks, and contracting processes for efficient agreement review
- Collaborate with senior legal team members on escalated matters, strategic initiatives, disputes, and complex legal issues
- Stay informed about commercial contracting, public procurement, and state and local government contracting practices
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Must be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Approximately 5–7 years of relevant legal experience
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
- Experience involving commercial contracting, transactional support, or in-house legal work preferred
- Experience with public-sector customers, school districts, municipalities, or government procurement processes preferred
- Familiarity with public procurement concepts, government contracting requirements, and commercial agreement structures preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and exercise sound legal and business judgment
- Experience with contract lifecycle management systems and standard legal workflows preferred
- Experience supporting technology, transportation, infrastructure, public safety, or operationally complex businesses is a plus
- Must be responsive, adaptable, and comfortable managing a high volume of agreements and competing deadlines
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Travel less than 10%
