Job Description
Billing Specialist ensuring accuracy in claims and billing for healthcare services. Utilizing hospital systems to enhance financial strength and improve patient experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize various hospital/physician systems to verify patient, billing and claim information for accuracy
- Perform compliant primary/secondary, tertiary and rebill billing functions
- Edit claims to meet and satisfy billing compliance guidelines
- Respond timely to emails and telephone messages
- Communicate issues to management
- Participate and attend meetings as requested
- Update patient demographics/insurance information
- Monitor claims for missing information
- Secure needed medical documentation required by third party insurance carriers
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in healthcare insurance billing
- Experience identifying billing errors and resubmitting claims
- Experience reading and utilizing EOB, 1500 and UB-O4 Forms
- Knowledge of CD-10, CPT, HCPCS and NCC
- A minimum of 6 months experience of billing claim forms (UB04/1500)
- Basic working knowledge of health information systems
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
- Demonstrated ability to navigate Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated success working both individually and in a team environment.
