Job Description
Board Member providing governance and strategic direction for small businesses in Alberta. Overseeing financial health, supporting fundraising efforts, and contributing to committee meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and strategic guidance to ensure organizational alignment with Business Link Alberta’s mission and long-term priorities.
- Safeguard the organization’s financial health, ensure compliance with funding agreements, and oversee risk management.
- Support fundraising, partnerships, and act as an ambassador for Alberta’s small business community.
- Actively contribute at board and committee meetings, including participation in the Executive Director’s performance review.
Requirements:
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising, corporate sponsorship, foundation relationships, or revenue diversification.
- Strong relationships and leadership experience supporting Indigenous business development, community economic growth, or Indigenous-led entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Expertise in newcomer-serving organizations, immigrant business networks, or settlement and integration supports.
- Background in talent strategy, organizational development, executive leadership, or human resource governance.
Benefits:
- This is a voluntary position; however, all out-of-pocket travel expenses (in accordance with Business Link Alberta’s Travel Policy) will be reimbursed.
- Board Members are eligible for reimbursement of expenses to attend approved webinars or training sessions to support their governance role.
