Job Description

Part-time Cardiologist reviewing charts to improve Mercor’s AI detection of ATTR cardiac amyloidosis. Applying evidence-based clinical reasoning and annotation standards remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Review patient charts and assess the likelihood of ATTR cardiac amyloidosis, including cases with incomplete information
  • Document clinical reasoning using specific, evidence-based criteria
  • Distinguish ATTR from similar conditions and communicate uncertainty
  • Apply consistent labeling standards
  • Refine assessments based on new evidence and AI model feedback
  • Explain clinical decisions clearly to engineers and data scientists
  • Complete labeling batches within agreed timelines
  • Contribute to improving an AI model that identifies patients likely to have transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis
  • Perform patient chart annotation, clinical reasoning, and AI model improvement

Requirements:

  • MD or DO with completed Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship
  • Currently practicing Cardiologist
  • 2+ years of post-fellowship experience
  • Hands-on experience working up and managing patients with suspected or confirmed ATTR cardiomyopathy
  • Experience ordering and interpreting PYP scans
  • Able to commit 10–20 hours per week
  • Able to translate complex clinical judgments into clear, structured criteria
  • US-based clinician
  • Independent contractor status
  • Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT support
  • Preferred: Heart Failure or Transplant Cardiology experience, advanced heart failure experience, or specialization in amyloidosis or cardiomyopathies
  • Preferred: Experience at an amyloidosis center of excellence or cardiomyopathy clinic
  • Preferred: Publications on ATTR cardiomyopathy screening, epidemiology, or diagnostic pathways
  • Preferred: Previous work with AI/ML teams, clinical decision-support systems, or clinical chart labeling
