Job Description

Commercial Finance Manager helping Royal Voluntary Service, a volunteer-powered charity, improve investment and retail performance. Leading business partnering, pricing, treasury and financial modelling across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Executive Directors and senior leaders to improve financial performance across their portfolios
  • Provide commercial insight and challenge to support strategic decision-making
  • Develop trusted relationships with operational leaders and drive financial accountability
  • Lead the development and review of investment business cases
  • Establish investment appraisal methodologies and financial hurdle rates
  • Review and challenge business case assumptions
  • Support Finance approval for investment business cases before governance approval
  • Monitor post-investment performance through benefits realisation reviews
  • Act as Finance Business Partner for the Retail portfolio
  • Analyse site profitability and commercial performance
  • Support investment decisions for new stores and refurbishments
  • Develop portfolio performance metrics including gross profit, net profit and ROI
  • Establish monthly performance reviews for underperforming sites
  • Support turnaround planning and commercial improvement initiatives
  • Develop pricing methodologies and review pricing models
  • Support commercial contract negotiations
  • Provide commercial financial support to sales activity, bids and proposals
  • Analyse customer profitability and support commercial negotiations
  • Develop sales dashboards and commercial KPIs
  • Support the CFO in treasury management and cash investment strategy
  • Analyse cash flows, investment opportunities, banking arrangements and investment returns
  • Develop financial models, scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling and commercial forecasting models
  • Support long-term financial planning
  • Identify profitability and financial sustainability improvements
  • Review commercial performance and analyse return on investment
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in commercial finance or finance business partnering
  • Experience developing investment business cases
  • Experience supporting commercial decision-making
  • Experience in pricing and financial modelling
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders
  • Experience driving commercial performance improvements
  • Experience supporting strategic projects
  • Knowledge of investment appraisal methodologies
  • Knowledge of discounted cash flow and NPV analysis
  • Knowledge of pricing strategy, commercial finance and treasury management
  • Knowledge of financial modelling, business partnering, performance management, sales and commercial finance
  • Knowledge of financial planning and forecasting
  • Skills in commercial analysis, investment appraisal, pricing analysis, data analysis and financial modelling
  • Presentation, influencing and commercial negotiation support skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Charity or commercial sector experience is advantageous but not essential
