Job Description

Controller overseeing financial operations within a professional services firm. Involves budgeting, reporting, compliance, and team advisory tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for budget accounting, cash management, and financial planning.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present risk analysis and financial reports that help senior leadership and attorneys understand the firm's fiscal health.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage the company’s general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities meet state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Advisory: Provide direct support to managing partners, translating complex financial data into actionable business language.

Requirements:

  • Professional Experience: Proven track record in accounting or finance, specifically within a professional services environment (deep understanding of utilization/realization and revenue recognition is required).
  • Software Mastery: Advanced Excel skills and extensive experience with QuickBooks Online.
  • Systems Mindset: Experience in financial project management and a systems-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
