Job Description
Controller managing monthly book closes and financial reporting for Andrews Senior Care. Leading day-to-day accounting functions and improving financial processes with a focus on client care.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the monthly book close process and ensuring timely completion of month-ends
- Overseeing a team to ensure all day-to-day accounting functions are completed, including the processing of sales invoices and payables invoices, bank reconciliations, accounting accruals, filing of tax remittances, etc.
- Working as a team to prepare month-end management reporting
- Assisting in finalizing the year end financial statements for external review and for preparation of the annual corporate tax returns
- Ensuring treasury compliance by submitting reports to the banks for covenant compliance, etc.
- Maintaining and improving financial processes and internal controls, including collaborating with the IT team to implement automations, where appropriate
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and following through to improve operating profits
- Variance analysis and cashflow forecasts, as necessary
- Coordinating with appraisers and banks when new investment opportunities arise
- Mentor financial staff and guide them in improving the financial processes
- Any other roles and responsibilities that may be assigned depending on management expectation
Requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar role or with a public accounting firm
- Understanding of cost centers used for management reporting
- An interest in process improvements, automation and implementing other efficiencies
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work both independently and as a team to meet month-end reporting deadlines
- A goal-oriented individual who works toward project completion
- Experience with Sage 300 or another similar ERP software is considered an asset
