Job Description

Director managing utility interconnection, transmission strategy, and stakeholder relationships for STACK’s data center infrastructure projects. Supporting site diligence, utility planning, budgets, and development business cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute near-term and long-term strategies to help the STACK Development team integrate data center projects
  • Manage and review consultant studies
  • Support the development team on transmission needs
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Manage the load-interconnection process and serve as primary utility contact for data center projects
  • Own, cultivate, and manage utility relationships
  • Document utility load-interconnection processes, financial commitments, cost responsibilities, timelines, and power-commitment milestones
  • Support reviews of utility contracts
  • Forecast and manage utility project budgets
  • Support leasing activities and develop project business cases with the development team
  • Review and vet potential data center sites for power-delivery viability and utility timelines
  • Develop strategies with the Vice President, Transmission Strategy to improve internal processes
  • Analyze utility and ISO/RTO planning practices, modeling assumptions, cost recovery, cost allocation, and load-interconnection processes
  • Support utility and RTO/ISO relationship management for site due diligence, interconnection requests, studies, and alternative transmission solutions
  • Collaborate with STACK Energy and STACK Policy teams on data center integration processes and policy initiatives
  • Prepare presentations, track market activity, and provide weekly and biweekly reports
  • Collaborate with preconstruction, supply chain, design and engineering, sales, legal, and tax teams
  • Aid in preparing business cases and recommendations for leadership approval
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in the energy space
  • Experience with load interconnection processes
  • Experience owning and managing external relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, creative-thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical issues to non-technical team members
  • Ability to identify issues and provide problem-solving strategies
  • Comfort creating processes and implementing organizational strategies and procedures
  • Ability to execute, process, and prioritize tasks with minimal-to-no supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must pass comprehensive background screening
