Job Description

Director of Individual Giving building donor relations for Climate Defiance, a climate change advocacy group. Responsible for managing a donor program, enhancing relationships, and supporting fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • build plans for the individual donor program
  • build the systems for the major donor program
  • manage a portfolio of 75+ current and prospective donors
  • grow the base of individual donors
  • deepen relationships with individual donors
  • oversee a development team member focused on event planning
  • coordinate with the Executive Director for fundraising efforts
  • develop systems to cultivate, steward, and track donor relationships
  • engage with attendees from VIP events and facilitate introductions
  • maintain the donor database and analyze trends
  • provide support around other organizational initiatives, such as staff recruitment
  • participate in Climate Defiance's leadership team and provide strategic input

Requirements:

  • at least three years of experience in development and individual giving programs, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • passion about addressing the climate crisis
  • experience managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors
  • successfully securing gifts up to and including 5-figures
  • understanding of cultivating and nurturing meaningful relationships with donors
  • experience in scaling up a major donor program
  • success in identifying new high-capacity prospects, including related research
  • comfortable and excited to travel for donor events and meetings
  • results-driven, entrepreneurial, excited to join a fast-paced setting
  • preferred experience in advocacy, grassroots organizing, or campaign setting
  • preferred fundraising experience for environmental issues, including climate change
