Job Description
Donation Support Services Coordinator facilitating organ, eye, and tissue donation for Lifeline of Ohio. Coordinating referrals, donor authorization, medical evaluations, family support, and recovery logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and assist with tasks so donation efforts run smoothly across multiple stakeholders
- Provide communication and ensure compliance with regulating, governing, and accepting agencies to facilitate and maximize organ, eye, and tissue donation
- Work closely with hospital staff, funeral homes, coroners, tissue technicians, and organ recovery staff to coordinate the donation process
- Ensure families are educated and aware of the opportunity to pursue organ, eye, and tissue donation
- Obtain and enter patient medical and social information provided by partners
- Communicate referral and case information to internal and external stakeholders and provide follow-up
- Identify initial suitability for tissue and eye donors
- Assess donor registry status or contact the appropriate organ procurement organization
- Document and evaluate medical suitability criteria for potential tissue and eye donors
- Apply internal and external donor suitability policies, procedures, and standards
- Communicate with coroners to obtain permission for donation and requests
- Coordinate authorization and UDRAI processes with internal and external partners
- Work with legal next of kin to discuss donation potential, provide authorization core elements, and compile medical/social questionnaires
- Support donor families with follow-up
- Contact tissue and eye processors for donor review and acceptance
- Communicate authorization information to stakeholders including tissue teams, processors, transportation, coroners, and funeral homes
- Document required information in the charting database
- Coordinate with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to meet documentation standards and record deviations
- Coordinate donor transportation for recovery
- Complete touch-base calls and post-case follow-ups
- Determine appropriate contact intervals based on case dynamics
- Ensure case checklists are completed timely
- Deliver and receive shift reports
Requirements:
- Certification in a healthcare-related field or secondary degree in education, medical, or healthcare preferred
- 2+ years of experience working in a call center environment or a relevant combination of listed education and experience
- Able to work night shift hours
- Commitment and enthusiasm for the organization’s mission and programs
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment using multiple communication channels
- Computer literacy and ability to use multiple browsers and healthcare applications
- Ability to understand complex policies and procedures and follow directions accurately
- Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Friendly, helpful, and professional verbal and written demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with people from various backgrounds
- Schedule availability for 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, consisting of three 12-hour shifts and one 4-hour shift per week
- First week of training during day-shift hours upon hire
