Job Description

Engineering Manager guiding agile engineering teams in delivering high-quality software solutions at Velsera. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving technical excellence in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

  • You assess the needs of agile teams: hire and onboard new team members as required within predefined budgets.
  • You motivate the team to deliver their best work in a healthy sustainable environment.
  • People management for 6 to 12 software engineers: conduct performance reviews, coach and mentor engineers to support their growth and development.
  • Guide teams through architectural discussions and technology choices, ensuring alignment with best practices and business goals.
  • Act as a technology leader, staying current with industry trends and emerging tools, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • You drive the delivery of high-quality software in a regulated environment, according to the teams’ quarterly plans. You protect the teams from disturbance & disruption while prioritizing critical issues with the teams.
  • You support the team in quarterly planning: as an Engineering Manager, you facilitate discussions between Engineering, Product & Business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product and Customer Operations to ensure the successful delivery of software products.
  • Build a deep understanding of Velsera’s product offering from a business, a customer, a product, and a technology perspective.
  • You report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management using predefined metrics.
  • You ensure that agile software development methodologies are implemented and processes are efficient and effective. You suggest cross-team process improvements when applicable.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in the field of software engineering and 3+ years in Engineering management
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of software engineers.
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate well with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • A problem-solver attitude as a servant leader for agile engineering teams, providing solutions to unblock both people and processes.
  • Proven experience guiding teams through architectural decisions and technical design reviews.
  • Hands-on expertise in AWS, Java, Python, and MongoDB.
  • A strong technical background in software engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in the software development industry.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle management processes.
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, a track record of actively driving processes to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Good presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing software in a regulated environment is a plus.
