Job Description
Engineering Manager responsible for leadership and technical contributions to a cross-functional engineering team at HarperCollins Christian Publishing. Leading delivery outcomes and coaching engineers across various disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Own delivery outcomes including planning and estimation
- Partner with Product/Design/Stakeholders for executable plans
- Manage and coach engineers across disciplines
- Develop career growth plans for team members
- Support hiring and onboarding processes
- Communicate status and risks to partners
- Contribute production code as needed
- Drive a strong quality culture with QA and engineering
- Partner with infrastructure engineers for reliable environments
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of leading teams
- Experience managing mixed teams (web, app, QA, systems)
- Proven track record in delivering customer-facing web or application products
- Experience improving engineering processes
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Strong technical judgment
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, observability, incident management, and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and system architectures
