Job Description
Field Technician installing and servicing cabling, networking, security, and telecommunications systems for New Era Technology. Supporting customer-site projects, subcontractors, QA, troubleshooting, and regional or national installations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide local field service and regional/national installation, supervision, and QA support
- Complete field work at customer sites and act as installer and supervisor to subcontractors
- Ensure field operations are executed safely, on time, and according to scope of work
- Build and maintain trusted customer and stakeholder relationships
- Build alliances and partnerships with subcontractors
- Improve customer satisfaction/NPS scores
- Complete client and company checklists, photos, and test results electronically within 24 hours of completion
- Keep Project Managers apprised of job progress and problems
- Provide after-hours or emergency service as needed
- Complete surveys and quality audits
- Follow company policies, standards, controls, and app-based tools
- Install cabling infrastructure, including single/multi-mode fiber, copper Category 3/5e/6 cabling, 18/2 twisted pair, racks/cabinets, and grounding systems
- Install, troubleshoot, and service POS, CCTV, video monitoring, security systems, computer, and low-voltage cabling equipment
- Install equipment in furniture, cabinets, and closets
- Install high-speed circuits, routers, switches, and modems, including Cisco and Adtran equipment
- Maintain a company-issued fleet vehicle
Requirements:
- Experience working with subcontractors
- In-depth experience with cabling infrastructure installation, termination and testing
- Experience installing, programming and servicing telephone, PBX and key systems
- Experience installing, troubleshooting and servicing 2 or more of POS, CCTV, video monitoring, security systems, computer and low voltage cabling equipment
- Knowledge of high-speed circuits, routers, switches and modems
- Knowledge of Cisco and Adtran high speed circuits, routers and switches
- Ability to login to network equipment via a GUI or command line using PuTTY or similar terminal emulator
- Knowledge of IP subnetting
- Knowledge of wireless networking, specifically Ekahau, AirMagnet or similar tools
- Some experience with desktop/laptop support
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to properly use basic hand tools, power tools, and testing tools
- Knowledge and experience with time tracking software
- Intermediate MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- English language skills
- Ability to travel by car and plane 100% of the time
- Ability to carry required tools and materials and lift up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to use 6, 8, 10 and 12ft ladders and scissor/boom lifts
