Job Description
Financial Controller for OurAssistants managing financial operations, payroll, and compliance for property management companies. Ensure accuracy and drive improvements in financial processes in a remote environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end financial operations, including high-volume payroll, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Own and manage all core accounting and finance functions, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
- Execute and review high-volume payroll processing.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and scenario modeling to support proactive decision-making.
- Apply financial insight and foresight to identify trends, risks, and opportunities before they impact the business.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions in QBO or Xero and/or Stripe.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve financial controls, policies, and processes.
- Support audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams as a strategic finance partner, providing clear and actionable insights.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and smarter financial workflows that support scalability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a senior individual-contributor or controller-type role.
- Strong experience managing high-volume payroll.
- Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, with the ability to think ahead and plan for multiple scenarios.
- High proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) or Xero.
- Solid understanding of payroll compliance, statutory requirements, and accounting standards.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to think outside the box and recommend practical, data-driven solutions.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.
