Job Description

FP&A expert reviewing AI-agent accuracy in Financial Forecaster for Mercor, which trains frontier AI models. Improving task realism and grading for financial forecasting and lender-reporting workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and QA AI-agent rollouts in Financial Forecaster against the actual model and source documents
  • Determine whether agents use the correct scenario, account, coordinate, accounting basis, conclusion, and deliverable
  • Identify failure modes and tasks that are too easy or solvable without using Financial Forecaster
  • Refine task prompts and seeded worlds to reflect authentic FP&A and lender-reporting work
  • Update grading guidance so correct answers pass and wrong answers fail
  • Detect gating failures, including wrong scenario or vintage, wrong accounting basis, excluded add-backs, unwritten model corrections, and conclusions given away by source documents
  • Catch plausible-but-wrong answers involving incorrect grain or inconsistencies across reporting packs
  • Work on projects training and enhancing AI systems for Mercor and its AI-lab and enterprise partners

Requirements:

  • Use Financial Forecaster regularly, weekly or more, as part of current or recent professional work
  • 5+ years of professional experience in FP&A, financial reporting, technical accounting, lender reporting, treasury, or controllership
  • Experience as an FP&A analyst/manager, financial reporting analyst, technical accounting analyst, treasury/lender-reporting analyst, or controller
  • Ability to navigate multidimensional models, dimensions, account hierarchies, and exact-grain cube slices
  • Ability to create, configure, identify, and lock scenarios, including understanding parent inheritance and forecast vintage
  • Ability to distinguish input accounts from calculated accounts and determine when to edit formulas versus override assumption cells
  • Experience loading actuals and driver data through CSV imports with correct units and scale
  • Knowledge of scenario notes, driver notes, policy notes, planning notes, assumption change logs, and variance commentary
  • Ability to identify tasks and outputs Financial Forecaster cannot produce
  • Ability to read models, reporting packs, scenarios, overrides, and inherited values
  • Ability to trace reported figures to their account, scenario, and coordinate and distinguish genuine tie-outs from coincidences
  • Knowledge of entity, department, segment, consolidated, product, region, time, and facility dimensions
  • Knowledge of covenant mechanics, including frozen GAAP, test periods, fixed charge coverage, total net leverage, EBITDA add-backs and caps, funded indebtedness, borrowing base, eligible accounts, redetermination, and compliance certificates
  • Understanding of parent/child scenarios, consolidated versus entity results, and the effect of amendments, consents, or waivers
  • Knowledge of GAAP, non-GAAP, covenant measures, non-GAAP reconciliation, AICPA PFI guidance, ASC 205-40, ASC 280, SAB 99 / Topic 1M, Release 33-10751, and Reg S-K Item 303
  • Ability to identify correct document types and complete deliverables
  • Familiarity with scenario creation and locking, saved views, and exports for large result sets
  • Sound judgment on accuracy and completeness, including identifying plausible-but-wrong answers
  • Bonus: credit agreement compliance and borrowing base reporting; going concern or impairment analysis; segment reporting; SEC reporting or disclosure committee experience; hands-on experience across multiple models and entities
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA welcome but not required
  • Must be eligible to work without H1-B or STEM OPT support

Benefits:

  • Fully remote role with flexible scheduling
  • Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
  • Competitive pay
  • Collaboration with leading researchers
  • Opportunity to help shape next-generation AI systems
  • Referral payments of up to $440 per successful referral (restrictions may apply)
