Job Description
Head of Risk responsible for establishing and maintaining risk management framework in El Salvador. Collaborating with senior leadership to mitigate risks in fintech environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework in line with CNAD regulations and internal policies
- Interpret and apply regulatory requirements in El Salvador, including crypto-specific obligations
- Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments (operational, financial, AML, cyber, liquidity, and digital asset risks)
- Define and maintain the company’s risk appetite and tolerance in collaboration with senior management and the Board
- Maintain and regularly update the risk register and ensure ongoing risk reviews
- Support the First Line of Defense (1LoD) in identifying and assessing key risks across the business
- Assess risks related to products, services, partnerships, and new initiatives, including crypto transactions and non-hosted wallets
- Oversee third-party risk management and outsourcing arrangements
- Monitor, escalate, and report material risks and breaches to the CEO and Board
- Ensure effective incident and breach reporting frameworks are in place
- Collaborate closely with Compliance, Legal, MLRO, Finance, and IT/Security teams to align risk management practices
- Contribute to internal committees and forums where risk expertise is required
- Provide recommendations on regulatory changes and risk mitigation strategies
Requirements:
- Proven experience in risk management within financial services or digital asset environments
- Strong understanding of operational and regulatory risk frameworks
- Experience working in regulated environments and implementing risk controls
- Solid knowledge of AML, financial crime, and crypto-related risks
- Ability to work with senior stakeholders, including Board-level communication
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
