Job Description
Head of Underwriting building Xsolla’s private credit fund for video game studios. Designing credit frameworks, structuring facilities, and leading LP diligence and credit governance.
Responsibilities:
- Design the fund's underwriting framework, including credit policy, standards, rating and scoring methodology, credit memo templates, and approval workflows
- Integrate Xsolla's payments telemetry and game-revenue data into underwriting
- Lead underwriting of lending facilities to game studios and gaming businesses
- Structure term loans, revolvers, royalty- and revenue-based facilities, including covenants, collateral packages, borrowing bases, and pricing
- Draft and negotiate term sheets and credit documentation with borrowers and external counsel
- Establish and run the credit committee process, presenting transactions and maintaining an audit trail
- Establish portfolio monitoring, watchlist discipline, covenant tracking, and a workout playbook
- Serve as the fund's credit authority in fund materials and LP meetings and own underwriting answers in LP due diligence
- Support capital formation, risk-return narrative, portfolio construction guidelines, and track-record presentation
- Codify a repeatable, audit-ready credit playbook
- Hire and mentor the junior credit team as the fund scales
Requirements:
- 7+ years in private credit, direct lending, specialty finance, or leveraged finance
- Personal responsibility for underwriting and closing institutional credit transactions
- Experience at an early-stage or first-time credit fund is strongly preferred
- Lending against media, IP, royalties, recurring digital revenue, or gaming businesses is a strong plus
- Track record of deals underwritten, structures used, and performance outcomes
- Deep fluency in credit analysis, financial modeling, covenant design, collateral structures, and credit documentation
- Ability to engage with LPs, investment committees, and founders and exercise deal judgment
- Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving team
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field
- Background check may include criminal history, employment verification, education verification, and credit history checks
