Job Description
Health Physicist red-teaming frontier AI models on radiological safety and misuse potential. Writing dual-use prompts, evaluating responses, and documenting technically grounded reference answers.
Responsibilities:
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in radiological safety and health physics
- Label prompts as benign, dual-use, or adversarial
- Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard
- Judge whether responses handled technical requests correctly
- Write reference answers and explain the technical reasoning
- Red-team frontier AI models for misuse potential in radiological safety scenarios
- Produce written rationales that non-specialists can follow
- Read and write about field-specific misuse scenarios for sustained periods
Requirements:
- Background as an operational health physicist at a DOE site, national laboratory, or reactor facility, including survey, assay, and contamination control
- Experience as an internal dosimetry or bioassay specialist, including intake assessment, dose reconstruction, and committed dose
- Experience in decommissioning and D&D health physics, including characterisation surveys, MARSSIM, and release criteria
- Experience in accelerator or reactor health physics, including activation products, neutron fields, and shielding design and verification
- Experience with dose planning for high-hazard work, including RWP development, ALARA reviews, and hot-cell and glovebox operations
- Ability to distinguish routine professional questions from requests probing for misuse
- Strong writing skills and ability to provide written rationales understandable to non-specialists
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal
- Red-teaming experience ideally
