Job Description
High School Guidance Counselor promoting student success at Ohio Digital Learning School. Engaging in academic counseling and implementing comprehensive school counseling programs under K12.
Responsibilities:
- Promote student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs
- Deliver individual and group guidance curriculum supporting student development
- Assist students in course placement and course scheduling
- Prepare and review transcripts and other academic documentation for new and returning students
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop a four (4) year plan for inclusion in the Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
- Analyze student data and develop data-driven programs for intervention action plans
- Provide responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues
- Provide an individual planning system to guide students toward post-secondary goals
- Assist students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities and benefits
- Provide a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents
- Support standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development
- Work with the teaching team to design and implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each student in school
- Focus students and families on college and career readiness
- Provide academic counseling, including recommendations on Advanced Placement (AP) and technical courses, to challenge and enrich student learning opportunities
- Audit student schedules for candidacy for graduation as determined by school and state policies
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Web-based search engines, and database systems
- Flexible schedule; Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to clear required background check
