Job Description
Industrial Hygienist / Process Safety Engineer red-teaming frontier AI models on chemical safety and process hazards. Writing prompts, evaluating responses, and documenting technically grounded reference answers.
Responsibilities:
- Write challenging single-turn prompts in the chemistry and chemical safety domain
- Label prompts as benign, dual-use, or adversarial
- Evaluate model responses against a defined policy standard
- Judge whether responses handled technical requests correctly
- Write reference answers and explain the technical reasoning behind them
- Distinguish legitimate professional questions from potentially dangerous misuse requests
- Provide written rationales understandable to non-specialists
- Read and write about misuse scenarios in the field for sustained periods
Requirements:
- Relevant background in industrial hygiene, process hazard analysis, toxic release and dispersion modelling, ventilation/containment/PPE programme design for chemical hazards, or regulatory compliance
- Experience assessing real exposures and real process hazards and signing off on controls
- Certified industrial hygienist experience, including exposure assessment, sampling strategy, and control banding
- Process hazard analysis experience, including HAZOP, LOPA, what-if studies, and management of change
- Toxic release and dispersion modelling experience, including consequence analysis and AEGL/ERPG criteria
- Knowledge of PSM, Seveso, COMAH, OSHA, or national equivalents
- Strong writing ability; every judgment must include a rationale understandable to a non-specialist
- Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal
