Job Description
Judge operations specialist coordinating staffing, compliance, scheduling, and training for Varsity Spirit cheer competitions. Managing regional judging operations, budgets, and event support.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, onboard, and schedule judges for regional and championship competitions
- Monitor judge progress and ensure completion of required training, testing, and compliance requirements
- Process judge assignments in UKG for scheduled events
- Communicate schedules, logistics, and event details to judges
- Evaluate judge performance and implement follow-up training
- Manage disciplinary actions related to performance, professionalism, or policy compliance
- Coordinate staffing, communication, and judging operations for combo events
- Partner with Regional Offices to determine panel needs and staffing
- Confirm judge assignments, facilitate travel arrangements, and approve judge payments
- Provide individualized follow-up and additional training for judges
- Build and maintain relationships with judges throughout the region
- Manage the regional judging budget and event P&Ls
- Develop, review, and maintain judge training materials and educational resources
- Support planning and delivery of judge training, webinars, and educational events
- Improve judge training programs and curriculum
- Provide input to enhance judge education, consistency, and scoring quality
Requirements:
- Proficient in Cheer scoring systems and related event technology platforms
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and Google Workspace applications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in events/competitions
- Proven ability leading a team with demonstrated business results
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Windows and MS Office required
- Experience in and knowledge of current and previous scoring systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Education, or related field preferred
- Experience in the cheer and dance industry preferred
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service in fast-paced event environments
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to travel to events, attend staff meetings and training, and work 2–3 weekends per month during event and summer camp seasons when coverage is required
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods during events
- Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and manipulate equipment weighing at least 30 lbs
